Portuguese Housing Market Survey

Sales volumes rise firmly across all areas

  • Headline sales growth accelerates
  • Strong demand drives continued price growth
  • New sales instructions rise only marginally

“Confidencial Imobiliário’s national house price index is in line with the survey results and confirm the market sentiment. The latest figures point to a price increase of 5.6% in 2016, and local indices show a widespread recovery across all regional markets. This is improving bank’s confidence and their openness to increase new mortgage loans with lower spreads. The crisis appears to have been overcome and this is pushing a number of new projects in pipeline”

“Over the past twelve months, Portugal’s labour market has seen a sustained recovery, with overall employment levels rising by nearly 2.5%. Stronger employment, along with the broader improvement across the economy more generally, appears to be providing crucial support to continued growth in housing market activity.”
